Pianist Andreas König

Biography

Born in Nürnberg in 1983, Andreas König was a student of the “Meisterklasse Lev Natochenny” at Frankfurt Music Conservatory, where he took his diploma exam in March 2009 achieving a grade of  “very good”. He started his studies at the Music Conservatory in Würzburg under Prof. Erich Appel.
Andreas König soon made his orchestral debut at the age of 10 and his solo recital debut at 14. He later benefited from additional artistic influences from Prof. Marie-Claudes Jaguaribe (Boston) at Tanglewood Music Center and from Prof. Klaus Hellwig (Berlin University of Arts).

From October 2009 on he will continue his studies at the renowned Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía (ESMRS) with Ralf Gothóni and Eldar Nebolsin.
At the Instituto Internacional de Música de Camara de Madrid he will be part of a newly founded chamber music ensemble supervised by Bruno Canino and Menahem Pressler. During his time there he will receive the scholarship of the Fundación Albéniz.

Andreas König is a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, namely from Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, Vogel Foundation in Würzburg and the “Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes”.
He is also a winner of many national and international competitions, such as “Jugend musiziert National” in Cologne, International Steinway Competition in Berlin, Porto International Competition and Vianna da Motta International Piano Competition in Lisbon.

From an early age Andreas König started his performing career with such orchestras as the Nürnberger Sinfoniker, the Berliner Sinfoniker, the Porto Philharmonic, Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon,the Vladimir Philharmonic as well as the Warsaw Symphony.

Andreas König is also active in chamber music. Thus, he recorded in piano duo with Aki Hoffmann the premiere of works by Klaus-Hinrich Stahmers for the Wergo label (WERGO/Schott-Verlag WER 6687 2).
Several recordings have been produced in cooperation with Bavarian Braodcasting (Bayerischer Rundfunk) Among these Andreas König recorded the complete Chopin Etudes For Bavarian Radio and the release of this CD is expected soon. Also several live recordings have been broadcast by RDP-Radiodifusão Portuguesa (Portuguese Broadcasting).
